Samantha Richner Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Samantha Richner has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

A native of Hanson, Massachusetts, Richner garnered All-New England honors with a third place finish in the heptathlon (4,276 pts,) at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College this past weekend.

Richner posted a score of 842 points in the high jump as she tied her own school record with a leap of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69 meter). She also recorded 722 points in the 100-meter hurdles (15.94), 685 points in the 200-meter dash (27.33), 563 points in the 800-meter run (2:40.90), 562 points in the shot put (34’5.5”/10.50m), 519 points in the long jump (15’11”/4.85m) and 383 points in the javelin (82’1”/25.03m).

Richner is currently tied for 15th in the high jump in all of Division III. She also ranks 20th nationally in the heptathlon.

Qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Association Championships hosted by Williams on Friday and Saturday of this week. Richner will be competing in the high jump at the meet.
