BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Ellie Bucknell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete Rookie of the Week.

Bucknell placed 11th in the javelin at the NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships held last week at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Competing in her first NCAA championship meet, the New Bedford, Massachusetts product posted a mark of 132 feet, 11 inches (40.51 meters) on her first throw.

Along with her five rookie of the week selections, Bucknell also garnered MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors on three separate occasions during the 2017 outdoor track & field season.
