BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ellie Bucknell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

A native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Bucknell placed first in the javelin at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier last week with a mark of 137 feet, five inches (41.89 meters).

This marks the third time this season that Bucknell has earned MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors as well as the fourth time that she has garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades.

Bucknell will compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 25th as she is seeded 13th in the javelin. The javelin is slated to get underway at 3:00 PM.
