Ellie Bucknell Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete & Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ellie Bucknell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Bucknell garnered All-New England honors in the javelin at the NEICAAA Championships hosted this past weekend by Williams College. The New Bedford, Massachusetts product recorded a career-best mark of 138 feet, six inches (42.23m) to place fifth overall in the event.

Bucknell currently ranks 13th in all of Division III in the javelin.

This marks the second time that Bucknell has earned MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors as well as the third time that she has garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades.

Bucknell and teammates Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Molly McNamara (Hulls, Mass.), Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.), Sheila O'Sullivan (Westwood, Mass.) and Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) will compete on Thursday at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier.
