Three Records Fall, One Equaled at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Three school records fell and one was equaled as the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke the BSU program marks in both the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump.

Andrews placed first in the hurdles with a finals time of 9.10 seconds as she eclipsed Ariele Krevosky's previous school standard of 9.16 seconds set last season. Andrews finished third in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 6.75 inches (5.35m) as she bettered Krevosky's 2015 mark of 17 feet, 3.25 inches (5.26m).

Andrews currently ranks seventh in all of Division III in the hurdles.

Senior Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) knocked off her own BSU shot put mark for the second straight week as she captured the meet title with a toss of 42 feet, 10.75 inches (13.07m). Bennett eclipsed her previous school record of 41 feet, 11.25 inches (12.78m) set last weekend at the Tufts Invitational.

Bennett currently ranks tenth in all of Division III in the shot put.

Sophomore Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) tied teammate Traci Perry's (Middleboro, Mass.) indoor mark in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 8.14 seconds. McNamara placed third overall in the event at the meet.

Freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 1:00.15, while senior Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) placed second (1:00.85) in the event.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay squad featuring Andrews, Lane, Miller and Perry posted a time of 4:01.16 to place second at the meet. The foursome currently rank seventh in all of Division III in the 4x400.

Senior Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) finished second in the shot put with a career-best toss of 36 feet, 6.25 inches (11.13m).

Next Friday and Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Tufts Stampede.
