Poto, Krevosky Lead Women's Indoor Track & Field at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team placed fourth out of seven teams at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) captured top honors in the 3,000-meter run and classmate Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) placed first in the long jump to pace the Bears.

Poto posted a winning time of 10:31.08 in the 3,000 as she qualified for both the Division III New England Championships and the ECAC Division III Championships.

Krevosky recorded a leap of 15 feet, 11.75 inches (4.87m) to win the long jump. She was also in first place after the preliminaries of the of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.25 seconds. Krevosky qualified for all three regional postseason meets in the hurdles and was just 3/100 of a second off her own school record set last season.

Krevosky currently ranks 16 in all of Division III in the hurdles, while Poto is 22nd overall in the 3,000. 

The Bears' 4x200-meter relay team of freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.), juniors Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and sophomore Kristin Leone (Weymouth, Mass.) placed first with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:50.22.

Andrews also finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a DIII New Englands qualifying time of 9.48 seconds. She added a fourth place showing in the 200-meter dash (27.42).

Junior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) tied for second in the high jump and qualified for DIII New Englands with a leap of four feet, 11.75 inches (1.52m).

The Bears posted a score of 91.75 points to finish behind Merrimack College (93.50 pts.), host Tufts (166.75 pts.) and meet champion UMass Lowell (205.25 pts.).

Next Saturday, the BSU track & field teams will compete at the Maroon & White Classic hosted by Springfield College.
