Pair of Women's Relay Marks Fall During Day Two of NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Two more school records fell as a pair of BSU women's relay squads competed during the second and final day of the 2016 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Boston University.

The Bears' 4x800-meter relay team featuring senior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.), juniors Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.), and freshman Anyelina Martinez (Lawrence, Mass.) placed 11th overall at the meet with a school-record time of 9:30.04. The foursome eclipsed the previous mark of 9:32.53 set by Megan Cullinane, Melissa Harris, Sarah Lagasse and Molly Rouillard in 2012.

Juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.), and freshmen Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) and Kassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.) set a new BSU record in the 4x400-meter relay as they finished 18th overall at the meet with a time of 3:59.24. The group broke the 2014 mark of 3:59.74 held by Lane and Pustis and former teammates Karen Anselmi and Becca Geldmacher.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's indoor track & field team will compete at the ECAC Division III Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Park Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
