Women's Track & Field Compete at BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University on Friday.

The non-scoring meet, which took place at BU's stellar banked track and indoor facility, featured strong competition from several top Division I, II and III schools from around the region as well as local track clubs.

Junior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) tied for 23rd in the high jump with a leap of five feet, one inch (1.55 meters).  Richner also tied for 51st in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.64 seconds.

Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 34th in the hurdles as she checked in with time of 9.39 seconds, while senior Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) finished 47th overall with a time of 9.58 seconds.

The Bears' relay team of Andrews and juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) placed 37th in the 4x400 with a time of 4:03.19.

Pustis also posted a time of 1:20.95 in the 500-meter dash to finish 59th overall. Andrews and Lane finished 65th (58.93) and 121st (1:01.50), respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Freshman Anyelina Martinez (Lawrence, Mass.) and juniors Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) all competed in the 800-meter run. Martinez placed 48th (2:17.39) overall, while Grattan and Rizzo finished 102nd (2:26.33) and 114th (1:28.04), respectively.

Freshmen Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) placed 41st (33'3"/10.13m) in the triple jump while classmate Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) finished 45th (31'11.5"/9.74m). Senior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) posted a time of 3:10.52 in the 1,000-meter run to place 69th in the event.

The Bears' distance medley relay squad featuring Connolly, Rizzo, Grattan and Martinez finished 18th in the event with a time of 12:48.39.

Seniors Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' meet entrants as they placed 61st (19:32.30) and 65th (19:42.74), respectively, in the 5,000-meter run..

On Saturday, members of the BSU women's track & field team will compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
