Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the sixth straight week and seventh time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Andrews garnered All-NEICAAA honors in the 4x400-meter relay and finished 11th in the 400-meter dash (57.16) at the New England IntercollegiateAmateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University this past weekend. Andrews and junior teammates Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) posted a time of 3:57.68 to finish sixth overall in the relay.

Andrews has earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades an impressive 15 times between the indoor (eight) and outdoor (seven) seasons.

Back in March, Andrews qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships and placed 11th in the 400-meter dash.

Andrews holds BSU outdoor marks in the 400 (57.68), the 4x100 (49.58) and the 4x400 (3:57.55), as well as indoor marks in the 400 (57.14) and the 4x400 (3:59.24).

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, qualifying members of the Bears' women's outdoor track & field team will be competing at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
