Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Andrews earned All-New England honors in three events at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Springfield College this past weekend as she helped lead the Bears to a tenth place finish in the team standing with 36 points. The 36 points marks the highest total at DIII New Englands in program history.

Andrews finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.87) and seventh in the long jump (17'6.25"/5.34m). She also ran a leg on the Bears' fourth-place and school record-setting 4x400-meter relay (3:57.55).

Andrews has earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades an impressive 14 times between the indoor (eight) and outdoor (six) seasons.

Back in March, Andrews qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships and placed 11th in the 400-meter dash.

Along with the 4x100 record, Andrews also holds BSU outdoor marks in the 400 (57.68) as well as indoor marks in the 400 (57.14) and the 4x400 (3:59.24).

Next weekend, the BSU outdoor track & field teams will be competing at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
