Jayci Andrews Named ECAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A product of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Andrews won the 100-meter hurdles and set a school record in the 400-meter dash at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell this past weekend.

Andrews posted a season-best time of 14.80 seconds in the hurdles to qualify for the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships in the event. She currently ranks 25th in all of Division III in the hurdles.

Andrews also finished second in the 400 with a time of 57.68 seconds as she eclipsed Co Davis' previous BSU outdoor mark of 58.28 seconds set in 2012.

Andrews has earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades an impressive 12 times between the indoor (eight) and outdoor (four) seasons. She has also been named the MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week six times overall and twice during the outdoor campaign.

Back in March, Andrews qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships and placed 11th in the 400-meter dash.

Last weekend, Andrews ran a leg on the Bears' school record-setting 4x100-meter relay (49.58). She also holds BSU indoor marks in the 400-meter dash (57.14) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:59.24).

Andrews also garnered ECAC Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week honors back on March 30th.

On Saturday, the BSU outdoor track & field teams will be competing at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
