Andrews Leads Women's Track & Field at ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) earned All-ECAC honors and set program records in three events to lead the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team during the second and final day of the 2016 ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University.

Andrews placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.76 seconds as she broke her own mark of 57.68 seconds set earlier this season.

Andrews finished third in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.58 seconds as she eclipsed teammate Ariele Krevosky's (Oxford, Mass.) previous record of 14.75 seconds set last season.

Andrews also ran a leg on the Bears' record-setting 4x100-meter relay along with classmate Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and juniors Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.). The foursome placed fifth at the meet with a time of 47.95 seconds as they broke the school mark of 49.58 seconds set earlier this season.

Richner added a 14th place performance in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 2.5 inches (1.59m), while Perry finished 20th in the 200-meter dash (26.19).

Sophomore Kristin Leone (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 12th in the long jump (17'1.5"/5.22m) and junior Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) tied for 21st in the high jump (4'10.5"/1.49m).

The Bears' 4x800-meter relay featuring senior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) and juniors Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.), Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) and Sydney Quirk (Plymouth, Mass.) finished 12th with a time of 9:54.41.

The Bears placed 15th overall in the team standings with 23 points. Rowan captured the team title with 61 points followed by Ithaca (57.5 pts.) and Bates (47 pts.).
