Poto Leads Women's Track & Field at ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) earned All-ECAC honors to lead the Bridgwater State University women's outdoor track & field team during day one of the 2016 ECAC Division III Championships on Wednesday hosted by Westfield State University.

Poto placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best time of 17:28.09. The top eight placewinners in each event garnerer All-ECAC accolades.

Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) finished sixth in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles as she equaled her season-best time of 14.80 seconds. Andrews, who advances to Thursday's finals, was just 5/100 of a second off senior teammate Ariele Krevosky's (Oxford, Mass.) BSU school record of 14.75 seconds set last season.

Krevosky and sophomore Kristin Leone (Weymouth, Mass.) finished 11th (15.21) and 17th (15.48), respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay squad featuring juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.), Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) placed ninth with a time of 4:02.85.

Senior Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) added an 11th place performance in the 10,000-meter run as she crossed the line in 42:21.04.

The ECAC championship meet continues on Thursday with field events getting underway at 11:00 AM and track events beginning at noon.
