Women's 4x400 Relay Garners All-NEICAAA Honors

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed during the second and final day of the 2016 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay featuring juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.), and freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) garnered All-NEICAAA honors with a sixth-place showing. The foursome posted a time of 3:57.68.

Senior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) and juniors Sydney Quirk (Plymouth, Mass.), Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) added a 13th-place peformance in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:02.08.

The Bears finished tied for 28th in the meet standings with three points. Division I Northeastern University won the team title with 140 points, followed by URI (92.6 pts.) and host Southern Connecticut (67 pts.).

Next Wednesday and Thursday, qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
