Women's Outdoor Track & Field Places 10th at DIII New Englands

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed during the second and final day of the 2016 Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College.

Junior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) captured the New England title and tied her own school record in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69m).

Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors in the 100-meter hurdles. Andrews placed fourth with a finals time of 14.87 seconds, while Krevosky finished seventh with a finals time of 15.42 seconds.

The Bears 4x100-meter relay squad featuring Andrews, Richner, junior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and freshman Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) also earned All-New England accolades. The foursome placed seventh with a time 49.00 seconds.

BSU's 4x400-meter relay picked up All-New England status as well with a fourth-place finish. Andrews, Perry and juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) each ran a leg on the relay as the quartet posted a school-record time of 3:57.55. They eclipsed the previous mark of 3:59.55 set in 2014. 

The Bears finished tenth in the team standings with 36 points. The 36 points is the highest total at DIII New Englands in program history.
