Richner in 1st Place After Day One of Holy Cross Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Samantha Richner is in first place in the heptathlon after day one of the Holy Cross Multi-Event Meet on Wednesday.

Richner currently has 2,770 points through the first four events. She posted a score of 830 points in the high jump (5'6"/1.68m), 701 points in the 200-meter dash (27.13), 694 points in the 100-meter hurdles (16.17) and 545 points in the shot put (33'6.75"/10.23m).

Bridget Deveau (2,736 pts.) of Division I UMass Amherst, Michelle Savoie (2,682 pts.) and Hannah Madison (2,584 pts.) of Division I University of Rhode Island and Julia Witt (2,456 pts.) of UMass Amherst rounded out the top five.

The meet concludes on Thursday with the heptathletes competing in the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run.
