Women's Track & Field Competes at UMD Corsair Classic

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field program captured four event wins on a rainy Saturday, as the Bears continued the 2016 campaign at the non-scoring Corsair Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth.

Four different Bears were event champions, and several others garnered top-five finishes to lead the team.

Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) won the 100-meter hurdles (15.44) and ran a leg on the Bears' first place 4x400-meter relay team (4:12.10) along with juniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) and freshman Kassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.).

Senior Sheila O'Sullivan (Westwood, Mass.) garnered top honors in the hammer throw with a toss of 135 feet, ten inches (41.40m).

Sophomore Kristin Leone (Weymouth, Mass.) placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 11.25 inches (10.04m), and finished third in the long jump (15'7.5"/4.76m).

Andrews also posted a third-place performance in the 200-meter dash (26.58), and joined juniors Alexa Hambly (Middleboro, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) on the Bears' second place 4x100-meter relay team (51.00).

Lane added a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash, while Campbell placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.

The Bears' foursome of senior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.), juniors Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.), and Sydney Quirk (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) checked in with a third-place showing in the 4x400-meter relay.

Senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) placed second in the 1,500-meter run (5:10.27), while Grattan finished fifth (5:23.76) in the event.

Senior Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) took home second place in the triple jump (32'11.25"/10.04m) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.00), while sophomore Haley Monaghan (Somerset, Mass.) finished second in the javelin (109'8"/33.44m).

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by AIC.
