Danielle Poto Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Danielle Poto has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Poto placed second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:59.77 at the season-opening Tufts Snowflake Classic as she helped the Bears finish third in the team standings. The North Andover, Massachusetts product had the top collegiate time at the meet as the winner ran unattached.

Poto is currently ranked 26th in all of Division III in the 10,000.

An outstanding distance runner for the Bears, Poto garnered All-MASCAC Cross Country honors in each of her first two seasons at Bridgewater State. She captured the MASCAC indoor track & field title in the 5,000-meter run as a freshman in 2013, and outdoor conference titles in both the 1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run in the spring of 2014. Poto also earned All-New England Division III accolades in the 10,000-meter run last season.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Poto was selected to the Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-District One Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The schedule continues for the BSU track & Field teams on Saturday when they compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
