Tori O'Dea Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Tori O'Dea has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of South Dennis, Massachusetts, O'Dea placed eighth place in the heptathlon with a season-best score of 3,539 points to earn All-NEICAAA accolades at the New England IntercollegiateAmateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held this past weekend at MIT.

The only Division III student-athlete competing in the heptathlon at the meet, O'Dea recorded her top performances in the 800-meter run (694 pts.), the 100-meter hurdles (642 pts.), the 200-meter dash (556 pts.) and the high jump (449 pts.).

O'Dea posted times of 2:29.90 in the 800, 16.60 seconds in the hurdles and 28.98 seconds in the 200, as well a mark of four feet, 4.75 inches (1.34 meters) in the high jump.

O'Dea also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for her performances at the Division III New England Championships and at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.

A three-sport athlete, O'Dea also competes on the Bears' indoor track & field team as well as the field hockey squad. She notched three goals and two assists for eight points in her rookie field hockey campaign this past fall.
