Tori O'Dea Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Tori O'Dea has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of South Dennis, Massachusetts, O'Dea placed 11th in the heptathlon at the Division III New England Championships this past weekend with a score of 3,402 points. Her top scoring events at the meet were the 100-meter hurdles (676 pts.), the 800-meter run (640 pts.), the 200-meter dash (600 pts.) and the high jump (449 pts.).

O'Dea posted times of 16.32 seconds in the hurdles, 2:34.31 in the 800 and 28.40 seconds in the 200, as well a mark of four feet, 4.75 inches (1.34 meters) in the high jump.

Earlier this season, O'Dea earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for her performance at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic. O'Dea placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.85) at the meet as she helped the Bears capture the meet title.

A three-sport athlete, O'Dea also competes on the Bears' indoor track & field team as well as the field hockey squad. She notched three goals and two assists for eight points in her rookie field hockey campaign this past fall.
