Tori O'Dea Named ECAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Tori O'Dea has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of South Dennis, Massachusetts, O'Dea placed 11th in the heptathlon at the Division III New England Championships this past weekend with a score of 3,402 points. Her top scoring events at the meet were the 100-meter hurdles (676 pts.), the 800-meter run (640 pts.), the 200-meter dash (600 pts.) and the high jump (449 pts.).

O'Dea posted times of 16.32 seconds in the hurdles, 2:34.31 in the 800 and 28.40 seconds in the 200, as well a mark of four feet, 4.75 inches (1.34 meters) in the high jump.

A three-sport athlete, O'Dea also competes on the Bears' indoor track & field team as well as the field hockey squad. She notched three goals and two assists for eight points in her rookie field hockey campaign this past fall.

Earlier in the week, O'Dea garnered Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.

O'Dea will compete in the heptathlon at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted by MIT on Friday and Saturday.
