Traci Perry Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Traci Perry has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of Middleboro, Massachusetts, Perry placed second in the 200-meter dash (25.69) at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational with an ECAC and NEICAAA qualifying time of 25.69 seconds as she helped the Bears capture the team title at the meet.  Perry also ran a leg on the BSU's 4x400-meter relay squad which finished second with a time of 4:12.58.

In addition to this past weekend's performance, Perry also garnered MASCAC Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week honors for her achievements at the season-opening BSU Bears Invitational in March and the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic earlier this month.

Along with qualifying for three regional postseason meets in the 200, Perry has also qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 100-meter dash and the ECACs in the 4x100.

During the indoor track & field campaign, Perry earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades for her performance at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in February. She also set the school indoor record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.57 seconds at the MASCAC Championships to help the Bears secure their first conference indoor title.

The outdoor season continues for the BSU women's track and field team on Saturday when the Bears compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University as well as the Eric Loeschner Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University.
