Becca Geldmacher Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Becca Geldmacher has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.  Geldmacher shares this week's honor along with Christy Deininger of Worcester State University.

Geldmacher earned All-New England honors in both the 600-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay to lead the Bears at the 2014 Division III New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College this past weekend.  The Rochester, Massachusetts native placed second in the 600 with a time of 1:39.67.  She also ran a leg on the Bears' 4x400 relay along with fellow senior Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass.), and freshmen Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.).  The squad finished fifth in the event with a time of 4:05.35.

Geldmacher helped the BSU women's track and field team capture the program's first ever MASCAC indoor championship back on February 15th.  The Rochester, Massachusetts native won the individual title and broke the conference record in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:39.02.  She also ran the anchor leg on the Bears' MASCAC record-setting 4x400 relay team which posted a time of 4:04.33.

Earlier this season at the BU John Thomas Terrier Invitational, Geldmacher set the Bears' indoor record in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.93.

Geldmacher and other qualifying members of the BSU women's indoor track and field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday.
