Women's Track  & Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Juniors Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) set school records to highlight the Bridgewater State University indoor track and field teams at day one of the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships on Friday at Boston University.

The 46th Annual event features the best in New England representing all Division I, II and III institutions at BU.

Espinosa posted a time of 21.93 seconds to advance to Saturday's finals of the 200-meter dash.  He eclipsed his own previous BSU standard of 22.02 seconds set earlier this season at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Goehring finished 12th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.43 as he broke his own school mark of 1:54.09 set earlier this season at the BU John Terrier Invitational.

Espinosa also finished 14th in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 5.50 inches (6.54 meters).

Junior Chinedu Chukwu (Randolph, Mass.) placed second out of a field of 29 sprinters in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.00 seconds as he advanced to Saturday's semifinals.

Senior Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass.) recorded a time of 59.68 seconds in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash as she placed 25th overall in the event.

Senior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) placed 19th in the weight throw with a toss of 46 feet, 10.75 inches (14.29 meters).

Day two of the NEICAAA Championships will get underway on Saturday at approximately 10:00 AM.
