Women's Indoor Track & Field Competes at Tufts Stampede

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team placed seventh out of 17 teams at the Tufts Stampede held at the Gantcher Center on Saturday.

The Bears posted a team score of 31.50 points.  MIT won the meet with 231.50 points followed by host Tufts (165.50 pts.) in second place and Bowdoin College (71 pts.) in third.

Sophomore Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet (10.36 meters).  Krevosky also finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 9.80 seconds, and tied for tenth in the high jump (4'10.25") along with teammate Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.).

Freshman Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) tied for fifth in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 0.25 inches (1.53 meters).  Richner also placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.97 seconds.

Senior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) posted a distance of 47 feet, 4.25 inches (14.43 meters) to place fifth in the weight throw.  Freshman Veronica Wiggins (Pawtucket, R.I.) was tenth in the weight throw (41'10.75") and 11th in the shot put (34'8.25").

Freshman Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 36 feet, 9.50 inches (11.21 meters).  Bennett added an 11th-place showing in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.45 seconds.

Freshman Sydney Vaughn (Lowell, Mass.) placed ninth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.63), while senior Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash (28.47).  Sophomore Samantha Pinkham (Hingham, Mass.) was the tenth runner to cross the line in the 1,000-meter run (3:21.11).

Next weekend, the Bears compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
