Geldmacher, Richner Set School Marks at BU Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Becca Geldmacher (Rochester, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) each broke school records to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University.

The non-scoring meet featured several top-notch Division I, II and III schools as well as local track clubs.

Geldmacher eclipsed Colleen Davis' 500-meter dash mark of 1:19.00 set in 2010 as she posted a time of 1:18.93 to place 22nd out of 55 runners.

Richner recorded a leap of five feet, five inches (1.65 meters) in the high jump to tie for fourth place out of 41 competitors.  She bettered the previous BSU indoor standard of five feet, four inches set by Cristina Nardozzi in 2002 and equaled by Rachel Smith in 2006.

Geldmacher and Richner were the top Division III finishers in their respective events.

Senior Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass.) qualified for both the Division III New England Championships as well as the ECAC Division III Championships in the 500.  Anselmi registered a time of 1:20.58 to finish in 33rd place.

Senior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) was the top Division III performer in the weight throw (47'3.00") as she finished 14th out of a field of 52 athletes, while freshman Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed 19th out of 48 in the shot put (38'3.25").

Sophomore Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) notched a time of 9.73 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 46th overall.

The Bears' 4x400 relay featuring Anselmi, Geldmacher, freshman Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and freshman Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 4:03.95 to place 24th in the event.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Tufts Stampede.
