Women's Track & Field Places 13th at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women’s outdoor track and field team placed 13th out of 23 teams at the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

The Bears finished with 20 team points on the day.  Hosts Tufts won the meet with 124 points followed in the standings by Boston College (80 pts.) and Northeastern University (71 pts.).

Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass) was the Bears’ highest place-winner as she finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run.  Rouillard, who was the top Division II or III runner in the event, recorded a time of 4:43.59 as she qualified for both the Division III New England and ECAC championship meets.

The Bears’ 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams consisting of Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass), Michelle Atkins (Chelsea, Mass.), Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass), and Caitlin DiLorenzo (Seekonk, Mass) placed eighth and fifth respectively. The 4 x 100 finished the race in 52.00 seconds, while the 4 x 400 team posted a time of 4:18.90.

Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 11.25 inches (10.65 meters) as she qualified for the Division III New England Championships.

Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) recorded a distance of 137 feet, eight inches (41.97 meters) to place 11th in the hammer throw and qualify for DIII New Englands in the event.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational which is slated to get underway at 11:00 AM.
