Rouillard Leads Women's Track & Field at NEICAAA Championships

EASTON, Mass. – Senior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) paced the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track and field team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held on Friday and Saturday at Stonehill College.

Rouillard captured the NEICAAA individual title and set the BSU school mark in the 5,000-meter run.  She posted a time of 16:55.72 as she eclipsed Debbie Mueller's previous record of 17:09.20 set back in 1986.  Rouillard currently ranks seventh in all of Division III in the 5,000.  She is also seventh nationally in the 10,000 and eighth in the 1,500.

Junior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) finished 21st in the hammer throw with a heave of 139 feet, ten inches (42.62 meters).

The Bears' relay squad of senior Megan Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) and freshmen Samantha Pinkham (Hingham, Mass.), Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) and Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) placed 15th in the 4x800 with a time of 10:13.91.

The BSU women's outdoor track & field team finished in a tie for 23rd place in the overall standings with ten points.  URI captured the team title with 91.50 points, while UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell finished in a tie for second place with 80 points each.
