Women's Track & Field Places Sixth at Fitchburg State Eric Loeschner Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track and field team placed sixth at the Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet with a score of 44.5 points on Saturday.

Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass) earned the only individual victory for the Bears, running a 19:12.54 in the 5,000-meter run. Krysta Zibikowski (Ashburnham, Mass) placed third in the event with a time of 19:58.01.

Taylor Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass) placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6.54 inches (2.30 meters). Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.63. Katherine Boutin (Taunton, Mass) placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.15.

Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass) added a fifth place performance in the hammer throw with a heave of 147 feet, 4.89 inches (44.93 meters).

Tufts University captured the meet title at the meet with a score of 249 points.  The Jumbos were followed in the team standings by Worcester State University (120.5 pts.) and Wheaton College (78.5 pts.).

Next week, the Bears host the MASCAC and New England Alliance Championships on Swenson Field.
