Women's Indoor Track & Field Places 11th at Tufts Stampede

MEDFORD, Mass. --  The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track and field team placed 11th with 17 points at the Tufts Stampede on Saturday.

Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass) broke the school record in the weight throw on each of her three tries.  Chiasson posted a distance of 50 feet, 3.5 inches, which was her best toss of the day, as she finished sixth in the event and garnered three team points.  Chiasson eclipsed Alison Fletcher's previous school mark of 46 feet, 7.5 inches set in 2003.

Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash, gaining 4 points, with a Division III Championships qualifying time of 61.22 seconds.

Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass) gained three points in the 60-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a time of 9.54 seconds.

The 4x800 relay team of Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass), Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass), Megan Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass), and Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass) ran a ECAC qualifying time of 10.09.97. They also placed fifth in the event gaining four points.

The 4x400 relay team of Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass), Becca Geldmacher (Rochester, Mass), Taylor Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass) and Elizabeth Moreau (Marshfield, Mass) placed seven with a time of 4:31.35 gaining two points.

Host Tufts captured the team title with 166 points, followed by MIT (155 pts.) and Williams College (95 pts.).

The Bears will head off to University of Southern Maine next week for the MASCAC Championships and the New England Alliance Championships.
