BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass) broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run to lead the BSU women's indoor track and field team at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday.
Rouillard, who eclipsed the previous mark of 17:24.82 set by Nicole Mauro in 2008, posted a time of 17:22.23 as she placed 15th in the event and qualified for the ECAC Championships. Rouillard was the top Division III runner in the event.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass) came about a half second short of breaking the school record. The current record is 26.42 and Aldred came across the line at 26.94. She did, however, qualify for the Division III New England Championships.
Junior Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass) qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 500-meter dash, posting a time of 1:21.52.
The Bears' 4x400 relay team qualified for the ECAC Championships running a time of 4:08.68, qualifying by less than half a second. Anselmi, Aldred and juniors Caitlin DiLorenzo (Seekonk, Mass) and Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass) placed 31st in the process.
Junior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) posted a distance of 44 feet, 9.50 inches (13.65 meters) to finish 19th in the weight throw and tops among DIIII competitors.
The Bears next compete at the Tufts Stampede hosted by Tufts University on February 2nd. This will be the last meet before the MASCAC and Alliance Championships.
Notes: Rouillard currently holds four BSU individual indoor marks (400, 3000, Mile, 5000) and is a part of three indoor relay records (4x400, 4x800, DMR).
