Women's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at UMass Boston Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University women's track & field team opened the 2012-2013 indoor season at the UMass Boston Invitational on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center on the campus of Roxbury Community College.

Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass.) led the Bears with a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash as she posted a time of 26.98 seconds.  Aldred qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event.

Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) posted a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 0.25 inches (4.88 meters). Krevosky also advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and placed sixth with a time of 10.15 seconds.

Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) led the BSU throwers with a fifth place toss of 43 feet, 8.50 inches (13.32 meters) in the weight throw.  Chiasson also qualified for DIII New Englands.

The Bears will compete next Saturday at the Harvard Open hosted by Harvard University.
