Davis, Robitaille Lead Women's Track During Day Two of ECAC Championships

TROY, N.Y. – Seniors Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.) and Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) and the Bears’ 4 x 800 relay team earned All-ECAC honors to lead the Bridgewater State University women’s track and field team at day two of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships.

Davis broke her own BSU outdoor mark in the 400-meter dash and placed seventh at the meet with a time of 58.28 seconds.  Davis eclipsed her previous mark of 58.82 seconds set earlier this season.

The Bears’ 4 x 800 relay squad of seniors Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, Mass.) and Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) and juniors Megan Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 9:35.98 as they shattered the previous BSU outdoor standard of 4:00.17 set in 2011.  Lagasse and Rouillard along with Davis and former Bear Jessica Eidinger were the previous record holders.

Senior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) finished fifth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,108 points.  Robitaille, who was seventh after Thursday’s events, placed first in both the long jump (5.30 meters) and the 800-meter run (2:32.64), and fifth in the javelin (27.00 meters) on Friday.

The BSU women’s relay team of junior Mychal-Lynne Folsom (Rockland, Mass.) and sophomores Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass.), Malgorzata Czerwonka (Billerica, Mass.) and Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.) placed 14th in the 4 x 100 with a school record-setting time of 49.97 seconds.  They eclipsed the previous standard of 50.10 seconds set by Theresa Rush, Cindy Lindh, Patty Bates and Adelia Karim back in 1983.

The Bears finished 16th in the team standings with 21 points.  Ithaca College won the team title with 68 points followed by Wheaton College (60 pts.) and Williams College (43 pts.).
