Women's Track & Field Competes at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women’s outdoor track and field team competed at the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

Junior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:56.14 and sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:10.62.  Rouillard qualified for both the Division III New England and ECAC Championships in the 5,000.

Senior Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) qualified for DIII New Englands and finished 14th in the 5,000 with a time of 18:48.09.

Senior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) added a fifth place showing in the long jump (16’2.5”) and a sixth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (17.75 seconds.)  Robitaille’s preliminary hurdles time of 16.62 seconds qualified her for DIII New Englands.

Sophomore Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) grabbed tenth place and qualified for DIII New Englands in the hammer throw with a distance of 131 feet, 6.75 inches (40.10 meters).

Next Saturday, the BSU track and field teams will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
