Von Ruden, Silveira, Lotti Earn Little East Women's Tennis Postseason Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Madeline Von Ruden (Ashley Falls, Mass.) and graduate student Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) have been selected to the 2023 Little East Women's Tennis All-Conference Team which was announced today by LEC Associate Commissioner, Darryl Konicki.

Von Ruden was named to the All-Little East Second Team for singles play while Von Ruden and Silveira garned All-Little East Second Team honors in doubles competition.

Von Ruden posted a 4-10 singles record (4-4 LEC) competing exclusively at the top flight. The Bears' top pairing of Von Ruden and Silveira recorded a 7-11 doubles mark with four wins (4-4) over Little East opponents.

Von Ruden garnered All-Little East honors for the third straight season while Silveira is making her first apperance on the all-conference team. 

In three seasons with the Bears, Von Ruden has produced a 17-23 (11-10 LEC) singles record and is 23-24 (14-9 LEC) in doubles play competing exclusively at the top flight for both. Silveira wrapped up her BSU career with a 30-18 (17-7) mark in doubles competition.

Sophomore Meghan Lotti (Stoneham, Mass.) is the Bears' representative on the Little East Sportsmanship Team for the second straight seeason. Lotti went 10-4 (6-2 LEC) competing at fifth singles in 2023 while recording a 12-6 (6-2 LEC) mark at second doubles.

Under the guidance of head coach Dave Purpura (8th Year), the BSU women's tennis team went 9-5 in 2023 and finished third in the Little East standings with a 6-2 conference record. Seeded third in the the Little East Tourament, the Bears dropped a tought 5-4 decision to #6 Western Connecticut State University in the tournament quarterfinals.
