Roman, Scagnelli Named to Little East Women's Tennis All-Conference Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University juniors Bojana Roman and Alison Scagnelli have been selected to the 2016 Little East Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference Team.

Roman earned first team honors in singles play, while Scagnelli and Roman picked up second team accolades for their strong play at second doubles.

The duo helped the Bears capture the programs sixth Little East regular season championship and fifth Little East Tournament title. 

Roman posted a 12-4 singles mark competing exclusively at the second flight this season. The Somerset, Massachusetts product was undefeated against Little East opponents as she went 8-0 during the regular season and 2-0 during the conference tournament.

Scagnelli and Roman teamed up for an 8-2 doubles record including a perfect 7-0 mark versus Little East tandems. Two of their seven victories came against fellow all-conference pairings.

In 37 matches over their first three season, Scagnelli and Roman have paired up to go 26-9 in doubles play with an impressive 20-1 record versus conference opponents.

In three season with the Bears, Roman is 34-8 (.810) in singles competition and 36-13 (.735) in doubles, while Scagnelli checks in with a 34-15 (.694) doubles record.

The BSU women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2016-2017 season with an overall record of 11-5 with a 7-1 conference mark. The Bears edged #2 seed Rhode Island College, 5-4, in the Little East Tournament championship match to earn a spot in the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament which will take place next May.
