Bojana Roman Named Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Bojana Roman has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

A native of Somerset, Massachusetts, Roman was a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles play last week as the Bears opened the 2016 season with a pair of wins over Little East foes Plymouth State and Southern Maine.

In second singles play, Roman breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win over her opponent from Plymouth State; and earned an 8-3 pro set victory against Southern Maine. She also teamed with junior Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) at second doubles to post an 8-3 decision versus Plymouth and an 8-1 decision against Southern Maine.

In three seasons with the Bears, Roman has amassed an impressive 24-4 (.857) singles record including a 16-1 (.941) mark against Little East opponents. She is also 25-8 (.758) overall in doubles play with a 17-3 (.850) conference record.

The season continues for the BSU women’s tennis team (2-0) on Tuesday afternoon when the Bears entertain the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University at 3:30.
