WINCHESTER, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to non-conference foe Emerson College on Friday afternoon at the Winchester Indoor Lawn Tennis Center.
The Bears fall to 7-4 on the season, while the host Lions improve to 3-7.
Bridgewater led 2-1 after doubles play. Emerson, however, rallied to take four of the six singles flights to secure the win.
Freshman Angelique Gray (Osterville, Mass.) went 2-0 on the day to pace the Bears. Gray paired with sophomore Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.) for an 8-4 triumph at third doubles, and posted a 6-0, 6-1 straight set win at number six singles.
BSU juniors Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) and Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-4 decision at second doubles, while classmate Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' point producers with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number four singles.
Bridgewater is back in action on Monday afternoon as the Bears host Endicott College at one.
