Women's Tennis Places Sixth at Grass Court Doubles Tournament

NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team placed sixth (3 pts.) at the 32nd Annual Women's Grass Court Doubles Tournament hosted by Salve Regina University at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The Bears' junior tandem of Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) and Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) recorded a 1-1 mark out of Flight B.  Roman and Strickland posted an 8-3 victory over Madison Hernandez and Delaney Macchirole of Johnson & Wales University in the quarterfinals before falling 8-2 to Lindsey Kaplan and Cristina Szepanski of Nichols College in the semifinals.

Nichols captured the team championship with 16 points. The Bison appeared in the finals of all three flights, and captured both Flights A and C to secure the title.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a 3:30 Little East Conference match with the Colonials.
