BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Hayley Anderson has been selected as the Little East Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Anderson went 3-1 in number three singles play and 2-2 in first flight doubles as the Bears went 2-2 on the week including a pair of Little East wins over Salem State University and the University of Southern Maine.

The San Antonio, Texas product tallied straight set singles victories against Salem State (6-4, 6-1) and Southern Maine (6-0, 6-0). She also recovered from a set down to defeat her opponent from Rhode Island College, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

In first flight doubles competition, Anderson paired with sophomore Alisha Silva (Taunton, Mass.) for an 8-2 win over the Vikings and an 8-0 triumph against the Huskies.

Anderson wrapped up regular season play with an overall singles mark of 9-5 including a perfect 8-0 record versus Little East opponents. She has also teamed with Silva to go 8-8 in doubles competition with a 5-3 conference mark.

The BSU women's tennis team heads into the Little East Tournament with an overall record of 9-5 (7-1 LEC). Following a first round bye, the second-seeded Bears will host a semifinal round match against either #3 Plymouth State University or #4 Worcester State University on Thursday afternoon at two.
