Women's Tennis Blanks Southern Maine, 9-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team swept three doubles matches and took all six singles flights en route to a 9-0 victory over Little East Conference foe Salem State University on Monday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts. The game marked the regular season finale for both teams.

The Bears improve to 9-5 on the season and 7-1 in the Little East standings, while the visiting Huskies end the season with a record of 2-10 (0-8 LEC). The number two seed and owners of a first round bye in next week's Little East Tournament, Bridgewater will host either #3 Plymouth State University or #4 Worcester State University in semifinal round action on Thursday afternoon.

Bridgewater State received doubles wins from sophomore Alisha Silva (Taunton, Mass.) and freshman Hayley Anderson (San Antonio, Texas) at the top flight, senior captain Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) and sophomore Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.) at the second spot, and the sophomore pairing of Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, Mass.) and Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) at number three.

Vautrin, Silva, Anderson, Scagnelli, Roman and Lakes all breezed to straight set victories at the second through sixth flights, respectively.

Anderson and Roman both improve to 8-0 in singles play against Little East opponents, while the tandem of Roman and Scagnelli remain unbeaten (6-0) in conference doubles competition.

Prior to the match, the Bears honored Vautrin who was playing in her final regular season home game.
