WENHAM, Mass. -- The Gordon College women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over visiting Bridgewater State University in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fighting Scots improve to 12-3 on the season. The Bears slip to 8-4 overall as their five-game winning streak came to an end.

Gordon captured all three doubles matches and each of the six singles flights to record the victory.

Freshman Abigail Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) and senior Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) teamed up for an 8-1 triumph at first doubles. Denney also cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 straight set win at the top singles flight, while Yeaw recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number three.

Freshman Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) and sophomore Katherine Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) posted an 8-1 decision at the second doubles spot. Hanson won in straight sets at second singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Jeffreys breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth flight.

Senior Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) also finished with two victories on the afternoon. Drescher paired with freshman Gabrielle Brucker (Eleva, Wis.) for an 8-3 triumph at third doubles, and won a tough three set match over BSU sophomore Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) at six singles. Roman dropped the first set, 2-6, but marched back with a 6-4 second set to force a super tiebreaker. Drescher was able to outlast Roman in the tie-breaker, 10-6.

Junior Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) rounded out the scoring for the Fighting Scots with a 6-1, 6-2 straight set decision at the fifth singles flight.
