BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Nine Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Fall 2014 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Assistant Commissioner, Megan Erbes.  The nine student-athletes include seven field hockey players and two representatives from the women's tennis team.

To earn a spot on the fall all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the 2014 spring semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in his or her institution for a full academic year.

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are senior Cailin Flannery (Boxborough, Mass.), juniors Molly Bennett (Ashland, Mass.), Mary Dubin (Holden, Mass.), Brittney Field (Hubbarston, Mass.) and Emily Mosca (Dedham, Mass.), and sophomores Brittany Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Hayley Grimes (East Longmeadow, Mass.).  Representing the women’s tennis team are seniors Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and Hayley Perron (Plympton, Mass.).

The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year.  While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), three BSU teams call the Little East home.  Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, while men’s tennis competes in the spring.
