DANBURY, Conn. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Little East Conference foe Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Westside Courts.
The Bears, 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Little East, raced out to a 3-0 lead following a sweep of the doubles matches.
At top pairs, Hayley Perron (Plympton, Mass.) and Alisha Silva (East Taunton, Mass.) breezed to an 8-1 victory, while Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) and Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) as well as Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, Mass.) and Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) cruised to 8-0 wins at second and third flight doubles, respectively.
Vautrin, Silva, Flynn and Olivia Lakes (Boston, Mass.) each posted straight set victories in their singles matches to give the Bears the 7-2 decision.
Lianne Maynard (Milford, Conn.) and Carine Jacque' (New London, Conn.) captured win in singles action for the Colonials.
The Colonials, now 2-3 overall, have lost three straight matches, including their first two in Little East Conference play.
Bridgewater travels to Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon for a four o'clock match with the Hawks. Western hits the road to take on SUNY New Paltz tomorrow afternoon also at four.
