NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to end, bowing 8-1 Tuesday to undefeated Bridgewater State University at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Tennis Courts.

Bridgewater State improved to 9-0 overall and sit atop the Little East Conference standings at 5-0. The Bears are now 28-1 in LEC regular season play dating back to 2010, when they dropped their only league loss over the past four years at the hands of the Corsairs. UMass Dartmouth fell to 6-3 overall and 4-2 and third place in the LEC.

The visitors led 2-1 after doubles play as senior Jackie McGuirk and junior Melissa Flynn teamed up for an 8-1 win at the second flight, while sophomore Alison Vautrin and junior Rachael Eramo notched an 8-1 triumph at number three.

The Corsairs lone victory came at first doubles, where senior Nicole Pelletier and junior Hannah Schulze battled to a 9-7 decision. It was Pelletier and Schulze's fourth consecutive win playing together as a team.

The Bears won all six singles matches in straight sets.  Senior Jenna Williamson, the LEC's two-time conference player of the year, posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the top flight, while McGuirk and fellow senior Lauren Hopp also won at the second (6-0, 6-0) and third (6-3, 6-3) flights, respectively.

Williamson is 8-1 in singles play on the year and an impressive 47-5 (.904) in her four-year career.  She has never lost to a Little East opponent in 34 career matches.

Vautrin earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at fourth singles, and Flynn and Eramo captured the fifth (6-1, 6-1) and sixth (6-2, 6-0) flight matches, respectively.
