Women's Tennis Downs Little East Foe UMass Boston, 7-2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University posted a 7-2 win over UMass Boston in Little East Conference women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The host Bears won two of three doubles matches and captured five of the six singles flights to remain unbeaten on the season at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Little East.  The Beacons slip to 3-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Bridgewater's top doubles tandem of seniors Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) and Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) posted an 8-6 win, while junior Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and sophomore Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-2 victory at the third flight.  UMass Boston's lone doubles point came from the second flight pairing of freshman Nuha Muntasser (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Solveig Castelli (Precojo, France).

In singles play, Hopp earned a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at the third spot to give the Bears a 3-1 advantage.  Williamson followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one to increase the lead to 4-1, before junior Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at the fifth flight.

Vautrin and junior Hayley Perron (Plympton, Mass.) added straight set wins for the Bears to round out the BSU scoring at fourth (6-4, 7-5) and sixth (6-2, 6-2) singles, respectively.

The Beacons received a singles win from senior Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) at number two, 6-4, 0-6, 7-5.

Both teams return to the court on Tuesday afternoon.  Bridgewater travels to Little East rival UMass Dartmouth for a three o'clock match with the Corsairs, while UMass heads to conference foe Salem State University to take on the Vikings at 3:30.

Notes: Williamson is 7-1 in singles play on the year and an impressive 46-5 (.902) in her four-year career....Williamson has never lost to a Little East opponent in her career as she is a perfect 33-0.
