Women's Tennis Downs Little East Foe Western Connecticut, 9-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass.  --  The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team breezed to a 9-0 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) foe Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Courts.

The Bears remain unbeaten on the season with the win as they improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Little East play.  Bridgewater has won 20 straight conference regular season matches dating back to 2010.  Western Connecticut falls to 1-3 (0-1 LEC).

The Bears received singles wins from seniors Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.), Jackie McGuirk (Raynham, Mass.) and Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) at the top three flights, respectively.  Juniors Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.), Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and Hayley Perron (Plympton, Mass.) rounded out the BSU singles winners at four, five and six.

McGuirk and Hopp have not lost in singles play t his season as they are both 5-0.

Perron and freshman Riley Palcic (Sun River, Ore.) teamed up for an 8-2 victory at top flight doubles, while sophomore Shannon Beloin (Forestdale, Mass.) and freshman Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) posted an 8-4 decision at the second spot.  Sophomores Lindsey McQuesten (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Stephanie Walsh (East Bridgewater, Mass.) pair up for an 8-0 win at third doubles.

Beloin, McQuesten and Walsh were all making their season debuts.

In upcoming action, Bridgewater entertains non-conference foe Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon at 3:30.  Western Connecticut hosts SUNY-Purchase on Friday at four.
