Women's Tennis Falls to Endicott, 5-0, in NCAA Tournament First Round

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Endicott College women's tennis team swept doubles play and cruised to a pair of straight-set singles wins in a 5-0 victory over Bridgewater State in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament Friday at Bowdoin College. 

The Gulls improve to 15-2 this season and advance to face Bowdoin College in a second round match on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. if outdoors at Pickard Courts. If the competition is moved indoors it will commence at 9:30 a.m. at Foreside Fitness & Tennis in Falmouth. The Bears end the season with a record of 13-3.

Endicott sprinted to a 3-0 lead in doubles action as the duo of Natalie Egbert and Chrissy Martel posted an 8-1 win at the top flight, while Brittany Potter and Amy Heacox followed closely with an 8-1 win at #2. Emilie Cloutier and Gina Pinciaro completed the sweep with a 8-3 victory at #3. 

The Gulls clinched the win with a pair of quick singles wins, coming from Pinciaro (6-1, 6-0) at #5 and Heacox (6-0, 6-0) at #3.  The remainder of the singles matches were left unfinished with Endicott leading in all four singles.
