Women's Tennis Downs Curry, 7-2, in Regular Season Finale

MILTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team posted a 7-2 non-conference victory over host Curry College in the regular season finale for both teams at the Big Nine Courts in Milton on Monday afternoon.

The visiting Bears captured two of the three doubles flights and five of the six singles matches.

Senior Brittney Hislop (Burley, Wash.) paced the Bears with a 6-3, 7-5 straight set win at number four singles.  Hislop also teamed with classmate Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.) for an 8-2 victory at second doubles.

Freshman Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) and sophomore Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) posted an 8-6 win to give Bridgewater its other doubles point at the third flight.  In singles play, Vautrin battled back from a set down to win in a three set tie-breaker at number four, 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.

Junior Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.), senior Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) all won in straight sets in singles play to round out the scoring for the Bears.

With the loss Curry concludes the regular season with a 9-6 overall record. The Colonels will take on Nichols College in the semifinal round of the CCC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at two.  The Colonels are the number four seed, while the Bison are the top seed.

Bridgewater State improves to 11-2 on the season.  The Bears are the top seed in this week's Little East Tournament and have a first round bye.  They will host a semifinal match on Thursday afternoon at three.
