Women's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to host Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

For Bridgewater, Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) helped earn one of the two points on the day for the Bears, winning 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 against Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) at #1 singles. Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) and Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) collected the other win for Bridgewater State, an 8-2 win at #3 doubles against Olivia Hilton (Vernon, Conn.) and Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.).

Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.), Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.), and Adriana Maconochie (Easton, Conn.) helped lead the way for the Hawks with wins at both doubles and singles play. Klein notched a 6-1, 6-3 win at #2 singles after defeating the Bears' top doubles team, 8-2, with Curran.

Dutton and Maconochie teamed together for a close 8-6 victory at #2. At singles play, Dutton needed a tiebreaker to win 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 at #4. In the #5 flight, Maconochie earned the 6-4, 6-3 win.

Lauren Schmidt (Guilford, Conn.) and Hilton picked up the remaining points for RWU, with respective wins at #4 & #6 singles.

Roger Williams (5-2) travels to Gordon on Tuesday for a CCC matchup, while Bridgewater State (4-2) will be at Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College, also on Tuesday.
